12.12.2023 — 07.01.2024
Curator Mirosław Lewandowski
Mon–Sun: 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
An exhibition of contemporary Polish art entitled “Towards the Light” will be held at the Mánes Gallery in Prague from December 12, 2023, to January 7, 2024.
The Czech public will be introduced to contemporary Polish artists Alicja Domańska, Maggie PIU, Tomasz and Jaremi Picz, whose works have been exhibited in many European and world capitals.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness of Polish culture among the Czech public. Polish visual art deserves attention not only for its craftsmanship, but also for its distinctiveness and originality of creative approaches. In Poland, as in the Czech Republic, art is an integral part of the history and traditions of our countries, and in the current, very unstable times, its value and mission are perhaps even more relevant, because art has always stood on the side of freedom and independence. That is why it is necessary to discover and promote the next generation of artists, because they are the future of our countries’ culture.
The initiator and curator of the exhibition is Mirosław Lewandowski, a Polish collector and patron of culture who has been living in Prague for more than 30 years. He has organized a number of exhibitions that promote the Polish art scene in the Czech Republic and Czech artists in Poland. His motto for this exhibition is: “We are neighbors and yet we know so little about each other…. “
The event is held under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague 1, Ms. Terezie Radoměřská, and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Prague. The personal patron of the exhibition is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Czech Republic, Mr. Mateusz Gniazdowski.
