In September, the Mánes Gallery will once again become the main venue for Czech Design Week, which in its twelfth edition will offer a curated selection of contemporary Czech and international design. From September 11 to 14, the gallery space will be filled with exhibition installations by more than a hundred authors – from respected designers and studios to the youngest generation of creators.
The exhibition concept is based on panel presentations covering a wide range of fields – from product and interior design, fashion, jewelry, and technological innovations to original approaches to traditional materials and crafts. This year’s curatorial selection emphasizes a return to the physical, slow, and essential—as a counterbalance to our accelerated and overloaded everyday lives.
The Mánes Gallery will also be the center of the festival’s daily accompanying program, which includes a series of lectures and discussions on topics that resonate not only on the contemporary cultural scene.
Since its inception, the Czech Design Week festival has focused on discovering new talent and has long strived to ensure that design is perceived as a distinct field with a full-fledged place in exhibition institutions such as the Mánes Gallery.
