Jan Smetana from the Kampa Museum joins the Board of Trustees of the Czech Fine Arts Foundation
Following the resignation of Libor Kaláb from his position as Vice-Chairman and member of the Board of Trustees of the Czech Fine Arts Foundation in May, we elected a new member of the Board of Trustees, Jan Smetana, at yesterday’s meeting. He had already been nominated as a candidate for the Supervisory Board, but lawyers Lucie Tycová Rambousková and David Krofta and economist Milan Bufka were elected instead.
Jan Smetana graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and has been the director of the Kampa Museum – Jan and Meda Mládek Foundation for more than ten years. In the past, he also worked at the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic and as a lawyer. His current activities include the role of Vice-Chairman of the Council of Galleries of the Czech Republic, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Věra and Vladimír Janouškovi Foundation, and member of the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Culture on the protection of museum collections.
I would also like to inform you that at its meeting on Wednesday, June 19, the Board of Trustees approved a legal audit of the Foundation’s financial management in recent years. This audit will focus in particular on issues relating to the sale and lease of certain properties, the reconstruction of the Šítkovská water tower, the reconstruction of the Mánes building, and the leasing of space in this building.
The Board of Trustees also approved the establishment of a working group tasked with developing a concept and vision for the Foundation’s development. This concept should be presented in the fall of this year and will include strategic goals and plans that will help us further develop and support Czech visual arts, which is, after all, the Foundation’s mission.
Daniel Netušil, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Czech Fine Arts Foundation.
