Jiří Kovařík (1932–1994) was a painter and graphic artist whose work ranged between surrealism, symbolism, and modern expressionism. His work drew inspiration from mythology, dreamlike visions, and deep introspection into the human psyche. He was a representative of a nonconformist approach to art, which was considered too radical in his time. Today, Kovařík’s work is valued as an important part of Czech modern art.
