21.10.2024 — 09.11.2024
Mon–Sun: 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
From October 21 to November 9, 2024, the Art Capital auction house will present the work of leading Czech and foreign artists of past and present generations at a pre-auction exhibition for the upcoming live auction. Visitors to the large Mánes Exhibition Hall will have a unique opportunity to see unique works by Toyen, Theodor Pištěk, Alena Kučerová, Jiří Sopko, Olbram Zoubek, Vladimír Kokolia, Bedřich Dlouhý, Václav Boštík, and many others in one place.
The exhibition presents the work of renowned Czech and foreign artists from the 20th and 21st centuries. Carefully selected items allow visitors to familiarize themselves with the leading works of individual artists and, through their work, hear their testimony of the times. Among other things, visitors will be able to see an exclusive painting by Jiří Sopko from the late 1980s, precise op art works by Vladislav Mirvald, and a series of exclusive and rare works by Alena Kučerová.
The exhibition will also include an intimate drawing by the famous painter Toyen (whose real name was Marie Čermínová). The drawing dates from the pivotal year of 1953, when Toyen had fully acclimatized after six years in France.
Another rare work on display at the exhibition is the graphic work Adieu Guy Moll by Theodor Pištěk. The model for the graphic sheet Adieu Guy Moll is Pištěk’s painting of the same name, which is considered one of his most important works. Pištěk drew inspiration for this work from the story of French racing driver Guy Moll, and Theodor Pištěk pays tribute to this racer with his work Adieu Guy Moll.
The exhibition will also feature a large collection of works by artists from the 12/15 Pozdě, ale přece group, so visitors will be able to see works not only by Jiří Sopko, but also by Jiří Načeradský, Michael Rittstein, and Vladislav Novák.
The exhibition also includes leading international artists of global renown, such as Banksy and Jean Tinguely. Jean Tinguely’s Untitled No. 4 is the very first work by this artist to be offered and auctioned on the domestic auction market.
Anyone who wants to get acquainted with the work of leading Czech and foreign artists of the 20th and 21st centuries can visit the Art Capital pre-auction exhibition in the large Mánes Exhibition Hall every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the exhibition, including weekends and holidays.
The auction catalog is also available for viewing and is now available on the website: www.artcapital.cz. A printed version will be available directly at the exhibition.
