Franz Kafka
21.06.2024 — 19.07.2024
Curator Prof. Karel Míšek
Mon–Sun: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
The main curator of the exhibition is Prof. Karel Míšek, a lecturer at the Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and a member of the board of directors of the Mánes National Gallery. This exhibition is one of the largest events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Kafka, a key figure in Czech-German-Jewish literature. Kafka, whose work continues to appeal to readers and inspire artists around the world, is an integral part of Prague’s cultural heritage.
“Mánes should be a space that gives young artists and students a chance. This exhibition is clear proof of our commitment to supporting young talent and offering them a platform to present their work. At the same time, we are working on a new vision and concept for the development of gallery activities at Mánes. This exhibition is just a preview of our efforts to set a new course that will reflect the current needs and trends in the art of the younger generation of artists,” said Daniel Netušil, chairman of the board of the Czech Fine Arts Foundation, at the opening of the exhibition.
The Franz Kafka exhibition at Mánes in Prague will offer visitors a unique insight into the work of contemporary young artists inspired by Kafka’s work, while also highlighting the importance of his legacy for our times. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the preparation of the exhibition.
